The rise of nuclear technologies 2.0 – Why this time it’s different?

We often forget it, but it is the access to an abundant and cheap energy source that skyrocketed our civilization into a new era. An era of possibilities. An era were strawberries in winter and instantaneous planetary communication are just the norm. A daydream? Almost. One glitch in the picture: we are 7+ billion living inhabitants and our earth has a finite radius of 6.000 km. The system has reached its limits. And climate change is one of its macroscopic manifestations.
Today’s brains are boiling and prospective solutions are fusing. Never ever before was so much brain horsepower dedicated to a common goal: ensure sustainable prosperity to everyone without jeopardizing anyone’s sovereignty or the environment. In other words: the energy trilemma.
Faced with this existential challenge, Nuclear Energy is positioning itself as a key piece of the solution. Not with the same product and better packaging. No, with a real, deep technological and design reinvention. A nuclear 2.0 with Small Modular Reactors at its core. This time, it’s different.
